Wipro’s Q3 Performance: Advancing AI and Increasing Market Share
Wipro’s Q3 FY25 revenues in rupee terms grew constant by 0.4% to ₹22,285 crore from ₹22,196 crore in the previous quarter. The firm’s profits before interest and taxes (EBIT) went up by 4.5% to ₹3,899 crore and the operating margins expanded to 17.5% from 16.8%. Owing to the good financial results, Wipro announced an interim dividend of ₹6 per share of the company.
Net income for the quarter increased 4.5% from the previous quarter and 24.5% from the same period in the prior year to $392m. The operating cash flow was $576.4 million which is 1.46 times the net income. The company also managed to outperform its revenue guidance by a slight 0.1% increasing its revenue to $2,608.9 million.
Wipro Secures Large AI-Powered Deals
Wipro has also been able to sign 17 new large deals in the AI-driven segment with an overall deal value of $1 billion during Q3 of FY25. Most of these deals were across several sectors with a focus on engineering, digital infrastructure and application services.
Other contracts included an American health insurer to develop an AI-based ‘Payer-in-a-Box’ solution. This platform combines healthcare services and improves the process of billing and payments with higher efficiency. Likewise, Wipro teamed up with a US pharmaceutical company to increase application of generative AI in HR functions to increase efficiency and employee satisfaction.
The company also worked with an Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) for a Canadian automotive manufacturer where it increased the efficiency of the sales team by 30%. Furthermore, Wipro collaborated with a global technology firm to design silicon chip for mixed reality systems with the objectives of power efficiency and high performance.
AI Investments and Industry Collaboration
Currently, 50,000 Wipro employees have been trained in advanced Artificial Intelligence and are certified in this field. The company introduced the Lab45 AI Platform where clients can use small language models to solve particular problems.
Mr. Srini Pillai, Chief Executive Officer opined that the application of agentic AI can greatly enhance customer service, supply chain, and contact center. He pointed to Wipro as an early adopter and mentioned that current uses are experimental but effective.
The company’s solid Q3 results and market penetration initiatives have kicked off the implementation of its AI-led strategies. Wipro intends to hire 10,000 to 12,000 freshers every year to support the increasing talent needed for AI.
Focus on Generative AI
Other IT companies are also expanding their AI plans. Infosys has created micro-language models in banking and cybersecurity and is deploying over 100 new AI agents.
HCLTech aims to deploy AI services with 100 clients by FY 26 through its AI Force platform and is already live with 20 clients. In addition to using AI for drug discovery and agentic solutions TCS is strengthening clients’ data foundation capabilities.
