Elon Musk Joins Sundar Pichai in Congratulatory Call to President-Elect Trump
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, spoke with Google CEO Sundar Pichai to congratulate Donald Trump on his win against Kamala Harris. The call, initially revealed by The Information, showed that Musk is more and more concerned with politics.
Pichai was the first to call to offer his congratulations, and Musk was on Trump’s side in the call. Musk’s involvement supports the president’s administration and agendas. This is the second time that Musk has been linked to Trump after the two have shown interest in meeting each other recently.
This participation has generated concerns regarding the entrepreneur’s direct input on public policies that affect his interests. According to federal documents, Musk provided $119 million for the work of a pro-Trump political organization and actively supports the administration’s objectives.
This is not the first time Musk has supported Trump. He was referred to as the “First Buddy,” and Musk has been seen accompanying Trump at major events such as SpaceX’s Starship rocket launch and a UFC heavyweight fight last week.
During his campaign, Trump hinted at Musk’s inclusion in his cabinet, appointing him to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency. This department, co-headed by Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, aims to streamline government operations, reduce bureaucracy, and cut unnecessary expenditures.
Trump stated, that the department remains a core feature of his “Save America” operation. Musk’s appointment also reflects the administration’s strategies of engaging private entrepreneurs to refresh federal avenues.
Musk’s support for Trump became more visible during the final days of the campaign. Reports revealed that Musk spent considerable time with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, including election night. Musk’s endorsement on social media further solidified his position within Trump’s inner circle.
During his acceptance speech, Trump also thanked Musk called him a great guy and recognized his work in Pennsylvania. Musk is said to have spent two weeks campaigning in the state, which proved his commitment to the president-elect’s victory.
